Things Are Not So Sweet At The Moment

I should begin with the good news which is that the misunderstandings with our oldest have been straightened out and things are better there.
Now we are having trouble with our Son. His girlfriend has taken it upon herself to " be angry " with us and we now don't see our Son. All this over a comment that was made about their house smelling of puppy pee. They have a new puppy and it's to be expected however; when my Husband told her she freaked out and hasn't spoken to us since. The whole reason we told her was to save her the embarrassment of someone other than a family member saying it to her. We won't make that mistake again. Try to do something nice and get stomped on.
The other thing that's getting to me at the moment is that all the kids went to the pumpkin patch the other day and there was no invitation for our youngest to go with them ! A simple phone call would have been all the was needed and Chandler would have been there in a heart beat.
What is the definition of family nowadays ? If someone knows and can straighten out my apparently " old fashioned ideas " let me know.
