Fish Hatchery

We had our tour of the fish hatchery today.
We made a day of it by beginning with a lunch picnic in the park while we waited for everyone to turn up for the tour and the kids played in the park for a while after the tour as well.
The tour was fantastic we learned about the life cycle of the salmon and then we were taken on a tour of the facilities to see how salmon migrate and spawn.
The highlight of the tour for my Daughter was being able to scoop up her own bucket of babies and release them into the Serpentine River. She's looking forward to going back in October when the salmon return to the hatchery.
It was a delightful field trip that will be remembered for many years to come.
We have been blessed with a wonderful coordinator that comes up with all of these terrific field trips for us. She knows what the children want to see.
I hope we don't lose her. She's a real blessing !
